2012 Outlander MAX 800R LTD

The benchmark in the ATV industry for luxury trails riding, the Can-Am Outlander MAX 800R LTD EFI offers unmatched performance, comfort and styling and the ability to switch from a one- or two-up configuration. The LTD model now offers Tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS), which allows riders to choose three assistance modes depending on the terrain or riding preference. Along with the DPS, Can-Am adds the Visco-Lok QE calibration to the front differential, which means an even faster engagement for the industry’s best front differential. The LTD comes standard with a full-color Garmin Nüvi 500 touch screen GPS unit that can be easily removed and taken in the car for turn-by-turn navigation.

The Can-Am Outlander MAX 800R LTD EFI also offers industry-leading performance with its rear suspension system. A Can-Am exclusive Air-Controlled Suspension (ACS) lets the rider choose between six pre-set suspension levels for the two high-pressure gas Fox Racing Shox-built shocks. Simply choose the proper amount of preload pressure for the trail conditions or load and ride in comfort, and it can even be done on the fly. The LTD comes in two limited edition painted plastic color schemes for an exclusive look.

Can-Am Outlander MAX 800R Family Features and Benefits

Rotax 800R V-Twin engine
The Rotax 80º V-twin engine inside the MAX chassis is second in power to only the all-new Rotax 1000. The single overhead cam, eight-valve powerplant is liquid-cooled and fed by a 46mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens fuel injectors. A sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically maintains the engine’s peak performance, regardless of temperature or altitude. And power is always manageable, for slow-speed treks or wide-open straights, thanks to our progressive throttle control system.

Visco-Lok front differential
With no buttons to push or levers to pull, Visco-Lok lets you focus on the ride and less on managing the machine’s front differential system. Visco-Lok progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one for optimal traction in all conditions. Plus, the system is completely transparent to the driver and is easy to steer because there’s no wheel hop or driveline wind-up. Can lock up to 100% with no rev or speed limiter.

Trailing Torsional Independent (TTI) rear suspension
The TTI design eliminates scrub in rough, choppy terrain and ultimately leads to more control and stability. The rear wheels move rearward as they move up and down producing a smoother ride than the competition. This setup keeps the ATV from wavering down the trail, reduces tire wear and has up to 75 percent fewer parts than competitive designs.

Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) frame
The SST frame is a single spar that is lightweight and strong. It contributes to the Outlander model’s benchmark power-to weight ratio and low center of gravity.

Inboard disc brakes
Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes provide controllable and strong stopping power in either one- or two-up configuration. The inboard brake system places the weight at a more centrally located position and keeps it better protected from the mud and trail obstacles.

Digitally Encoded Security System (D.E.S.S.)
Industry’s first standard anti-theft device. Electronic code in key must match code in ECU to start.

Front and rear steel racks
This MAX line-up remains capable of toting a 100-pound (45 kg) capacity on its front rack and an additional 200 pounds (90 kg) in back.

Can-Am Outlander MAX Benefits

BRP’s Can-Am Outlander MAX models are designed specifically for riding with a passenger. The longer vehicle wheelbase not only delivers rock-solid stability and super predictable handling with a passenger, but one-up, too. Ability to swap the seat and rack extension box without tools makes the MAX model extremely versatile.

Longer vehicle wheelbase
The passenger rides well in front of the rear axle for rock-solid stability and super predictable handling.

Stadium-style seating
The passenger rides above the driver, stadium-style, and can see down the trail.

Passenger comfort features
A well-padded active backrest moves with rider. Raised footrests and multi-position handholds add comfort.

Convertible rack system
One does not have to ride with the passenger seat in place 100 percent of the time. The passenger seat can be removed and replaced with a rack-extension/ totable cargo box in just seconds – all without tools. BRP offers several accessories, such as a cargo box and touring box that interface seamlessly with this system.

Can-Am Outlander 800R LTD

Rotax 800R V-Twin engine
This 80º V-twin engine is still the most powerful ATV engine in the industry. The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam power plant has four valves per cylinder and is fed by a 46mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens fuel injectors. The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the engine’s performance at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude. The progressive throttle ensures power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or opening it up on the straights.

Air-Controlled Suspension (ACS)
The 2011 Can-Am Outlander MAX LTD line comes equipped with an industry-exclusive, air-controlled suspension. The ACS adjusts the rear high-pressure gas Fox Racing Shox-built suspension to six rider-selectable levels depending on trail conditions or rider preference. This allows the LTD to maintain handling characteristics even when fully loaded. The ACS air compressor also comes with a hose that can be used to fill tires while out on the trail.

Tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)
The Can-Am DPS system has three modes meaning the rider can choose the amount of assist depending on the conditions. Each DPS-equipped model is fitted with a dual-mode selection for the ultimate in rider control depending on the conditions. They also include Visco-Lok QE (quicker engaging) front differential that progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one – automatically with no buttons to push or levers to pull. Plus, there’s no wheel hop or driveline wind-up so the system is totally transparent to the driver and extremely easy to steer. Can lock up to 100% with no rev or speed limiter.

Removable Garmin Nüvi 500 touch-screen GPS unit
Rugged full-color GPS unit removes from its cradle on the handlebars and can be used for driving, hiking, walking or boating. The unit is also geocaching ready and comes with an 8-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Use the Micro SD slot to expand the memory of the unit or load new maps. For the car, the Nüvi 500 features turn-by-turn directions for easy navigation.
