DS 250 09'BRP's Can-Am™ all-terrain vehicles continue to be the ATV brand for enthusiasts. With its 2009 Can-Am recreation-utility and recreation-sport line-up, BRP is poised to further strengthen this position with model updates aimed squarely at riders who enjoy all-around performance.

“BRP continues to cater to the exacting requirements of the ATV enthusiast,” said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, Can-Am division. "For 2009, BRP enhances the performance of its top-of-the-line RenegadeTM and OutlanderTM models allowing the Can-Am brand to satisfy even better the needs of ATV enthusiasts. We are fully committed to being the brand that is recognized for performance, handling and innovative designs."

Model Updates for 2009

  • The powerful liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 800cc Rotax® engine found in the Outlander and Renegade models gets a nine-percent power increase on the top-end for 2009. The new 800R version of the engine powers the Outlander and Renegade ATVs from 0-60 MPH (0-97 KPH) almost one second faster than the previous year's 800 H.O. engine.
  • The revised calibration of the 800R engine improves power delivery, bringing to enthusiasts more manageable low RPM power for tight, technical situations and high horsepower for when the rider needs it.
  • In addition to the revised power pack, the Outlander 800R models get an exclusive new styling, Outlander Fasciawith a new front fascia design featuring strong Can-Am DNA cues, as well as new bumpers on the XT package version.
  • The 2009 Outlander family of award-winning recreation-utility models returns as the base of the Can-Am line-up. The Outlander comes in 800, 650, 500 and 400cc engine sizes – all with EFI, each the most powerful in its class and each available as a two-rider Outlander MAX version, an Outlander XT™ value-added package version, and an Outlander MAX XT version. And, for 2009, all Outlander models come standard with a high-density polyethylene injection-moulded skid plate.
  • The full-featured Outlander MAX 800R EFI LTD two-up touring model is back with a new Radiant Red Metallic coloration and with its amazing package of factory-installed amenities: removable GPS receiver, winch system, mud guards, cast aluminium wheels, and more.
  • The Renegade 800R EFI and the Renegade 800R EFI XTM with their new power, and Renegade 500 EFI models return with the unique blend of sport handling and assertive looks, combined with 4x4 capabilities. Both the Renegade 800R and 500 are also available with a new red coloration for 2009.
  • BRP’s entry-level recreation-sport ATV, the DS 250®, returns with updated headlights and coloration options to offer consumers comfortable ergonomics and superb entry-level performance.

With these updates to Can-Am recreation-utility and recreation-sport line-up, and the return of the DS 90TM XTM, DS 90TM and DS 70TM four-stroke youth models, Can-Am is poised to meet the needs of the discerning ATV enthusiast in 2009.

BRP RELEASES TWO NEW 2009 CAN-AM DS 450 MODELS

DS 450 X MX

Returning for 2009 is the ultra-potent 2009 Can-Am DS 450 EFI ATV. The base model gets updates and two exciting models, the DS 450 X mx and DS 450 X xc models, also join the line-up. Can-Am now boasts the most race-ready 450 sport ATV line in the industry. All models get power from a proven Rotax® engine. And the ultra-light weight comes from cutting-edge computer design and the most revolutionary thinking in the sport ATV world.

It is still the benchmark for performance, handling and control – on the track and on the trail – thanks to the Rotax power, low weight, centralized mass, low unsprung weight, and fully-adjustable sport-tuned suspension.

“By releasing the DS 450 X mx and xc, we redefine the factory and amateur ATV racer relationship,” said Yves Leduc, Vice-President and General Manager, Can-Am Division. "The DS 450 continues to evolve and the base model was the perfect starting point for the two most race-ready sport packages in the industry.”
